Activity Name:
Knit One Give One
CAS element(s) involved:
Service
Description of Proposed Activity:
Knit One Give One is an organisation that collects hand knitted items from knitters all around Australia and donates them to disadvantaged families or individuals. For my service activity this semester, I will be knitting an item for knit one give one during my spare time that will hopefully be ready for donation at the end of this term.
Proposed Activity Supervisor:
My mum
What challenges and/or new skills will this activity provide?
I think one of the bigger challenges will be time management and ensuring that I actually follow through with the knitting, particularly as I won't be doing this as a part of a club at school so there won't be any structure - it will be purely up to me during my own spare time to ensure that I keep knitting. I also don't know how to knit, so I will have to learn how to knit which hopefully won't be too difficult if I just make a blanket.
What do you want to achieve from your participation in this activity?
My goal is to have knitted a full blanket, and possibly a beanie, by the end of this semester to donate.
What evidence could be appropriate for this activity?
Which learning outcomes may be appropriate to reflect on for this activity?
